Senior IT Security Consultant

Posted by cooper on Apr 9, 2011 in g33k, work

So a new chapter of my life begins next month when I change my place of work from 4.5 years of being a HPC / Unix admin @ ANSTO (http://www.ansto.gov.au) to become a senior security focused network engineer.

I will be moving to ICT Security, being based in North Sydney with a main focus on Juniper Networks security equipment and solutions. So expect to see Cooper @ more Sydney events and actually in the city. e.g. SAGE meetings etc.

APNIC (apnic.net) – The Asia Pacific Network Information Centre is holding APNIC 28 in Beijing this month. Along with this the NRO NC (Number Resource Organization Number Council) elections are being held this month. I have nominated myself as I would love to represent the APNIC region and assist the Internet through these tough tme (IPv4 sortage etc.).

If your organisation is a APNIC member please vote for me. Please also feel free to email me any view or points you would like me to make or address to the council.

Apple Training + Finally Dragons

Posted by admin on Jul 1, 2007 in friends, sport, work

Last week friends and I from work attended Mac OS X Support Essentials. It was a fun week, especially heading out to China town for great asian cusine and the Bavarian Bier Cafe where I drank a few to many stiens … If you have never been there, go! The German food mixed with great “bier” = WIN WIN situation.

BIER Korea FOOD ! $9
$17 of beer in comparion of $9 of Korea Food ! BBQ Beef – Couldn’t get Chilli Beef – I tried …

Make sure when your in China town next you try the fancy new “Sasuage Roll” as well:

Sasuage Roll

On a good note aswell finally the pussy Dragons got up for a win. Some exciting attacking Rugby League from the boys brought joy to all Dragons fans especially me. Our dodgy right hand defense kept them in the game. So come on boys lets get a role on and off the bottom of the table. We are no longer the BOTTOM of the table.

The Life of a Sys Admin …

Posted by admin on Feb 24, 2007 in g33k, tech, work

Well, its Official now. I am a Junior Unix Systems Administrator and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and loving it. I am now in the real world, and thus that being the main reason to the lack of posts/activity here recently.

The last few days I attended Apple’s Leopard Tech Talks and things look really good for the latest version of OS X. Things are good, work is good nothing to complain about. I have also recently started a CCNA course to become a Cisco Certified Network Associate, so the study also continues for some “real work” industry qualifications. Just an update to inform whats been happening ;).
